Authenticating an item of memorabilia has become a hard process especially signed shirts and signed balls. With so many forgers out there now legitimate companies need to be careful. It is hard to identify a real autograph without evidence because for one forgers are getting better using new techniques and secondly (this is especially applicable with signed shirts) the stars signature can vary from time to time. You cannot expect an autograph on a photo signed at a scheduled signing on a table to be the same as a shirt signed at a training ground on their knee. |

There are methods to spot a fake detailed in our advice guides but even they are not 100% accurate. There are respected companies out there who will put their neck on the line and authenticate items for you (for a fee) and even if they are not confident to authenticate your item it doesn’t mean it’s fake. This is a list of companies we can recommend. |
